Scrubs: 10 Best Characters In Just One Episode
6. Elaine
In a show based in and around a hospital, there were always going to be characters that sadly passed away. The most notable of these in Scrubs are the likes of Ben, Laverne, and even JD's dad, but one that did have a huge impact, even after only appearing in one episode, was Elaine.
She was a young woman that was suffering with a faulty heart, and was in the hospital awaiting a transplant. She developed a bond with JD during her time at Sacred Heart, and since death was always a very real possibility, she spent a lot of time talking about it.
Her outlook was so positive and refreshing that it was impossible to dislike her. She liked to think that death was like a big Broadway musical, ending with a big number and going out on a high. It was incredibly moving, and this is ultimately what happened.
As she passed, she and others around the hospital sang a beautiful rendition of Colin Hay's 'Waiting For My Real Life To Begin'. Of course, this was one of JD's many fantasies, but it was thanks to the words Elaine gave him before she passed that he was able to accept her death, and be happy that she was able to go out with a flourish.
