Scrubs: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season 1

Has there been a more emotionally charged, hilarious and downright relatable workplace sitcom than Scrubs? Talk to anyone who works in a hospital, and you're guaranteed to be told how accurate the show is to real life; right down to junior doctors getting doused in bodily fluids, sleep-deprived snogs in supply cupboards, and of course nurses doing all the work while getting none of the credit.

For a series that lasted so long, Scrubs didn't fail to take its audience on an emotional rollercoaster that had us laughing one minute and bawling our eyes out the next.

While the audience did have JD, Turk, Carla, Elliot, Dr. Cox, Kelso and the Janitor taking them on wild journeys, Scrubs wouldn't be the show it was without the help of its incredibly funny supporting characters. From absurdly quirky hospital employees at Sacred Heart, to brilliant guest stars as weary patients, Scrubs was never short of some top drawer comedic characters.

That isn't to say they were all hitters. Some characters didn't land well with audiences, others were so unlikable in the show they became almost villainous.

For this list, we're going to take a look at ten absolutely terrible Scrubs characters who debuted after the first season had established the core and main supporting characters. These characters came after the series found its voice, and the series missed the mark when it came to funny, engaging and entertaining characters.

First Appearance: Season 4 Episode 23 - My Faith In Humanity

Aside from a very, VERY small minority, there weren't many of Elliot's romantic partners that stood out in the series. While the series did toy on occasion with the possibility of Elliot getting together with someone genuinely good for her (#weloveyouKeith!), the earlier arrival of Jake was so bland and mediocre, you can be forgiven for forgetting he was in the show at all.

Jake was one of those rare characters in Scrubs who existed in the real world, and not the comedic reality of Scrubs. From the moment he stepped through the reception doors at Sacred Heart, Jake knew he hadn't walked into a hospital but a bewildering madhouse that occasionally cured ailments.

It's unclear what the writers intended for the character of Jake, as he never provided any growth for Elliot and certainly didn't further any of the show's plots. Lord knows what Elliot saw in Jake's bland sensibilities, and while he could have been a flash in the pan character for one episode, Jake continued a multi-season arc (albeit he crosses over one season in four episodes) and Elliot breaks things off with him early into season five.

Had he stuck around just a little bit, and maybe had more banter with JD like his debut episode, he wouldn't be on this list. Alas, Jake was such a comedy vacuum that whenever he walked on screen, you could feel the comedic atmosphere flush from the screen itself.
