Scrubs: 10 Worst Characters Who Appeared After Season 1

First Appearance: Season 8 Episode 1 - My Jerks

If there is one way to guarantee audiences dislike a new character on screen, it's get your older characters to dislike them first. Originally debuting as the fun, laid back party-boy of the new interns, Ed quickly evolved before audiences eyes into an irritating and downright unpleasant figure.

Dr. Cox's irritation at Ed's laziness might have been what got Ed fired after four episodes, but it has to be said that his biggest crime was coming up with annoying catchphrases and enunciating words in ridiculous pitches and tones.

It's unclear what the writers of Scrubs were trying to say with the character of Ed; perhaps they were taking a stab at millennial laziness? Or maybe they wanted to show audiences how much JD, Elliot and Turk had matured since the first season? Or maybe the show just needed some characters to groan and moan at when they appeared on screen?

The show wasn't trying to create a fun and quirky character that they tried to force on audiences; the new interns, the old guard of characters and everyone in between found Ed to be a thoroughly unenjoyable character on screen.

Shortly into his time at Sacred Heart though, Ed rubbed Dr Cox the wrong way for the last time and was promptly fired for his laziness. Good riddance!

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
