Secret Invasion Episode 3 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

7. Down - Is That Really It For G'iah?

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

We'll start this entry with the caveat that plenty of characters have seemingly died in the MCU, and in comic book movies in general, only to be discovered as alive later on. It happened with Nick Fury himself in The Winter Soldier, and may well be the case for G'iah in Secret Invasion.

This writer sincerely hopes that this is case, because if Talos' daughter was really killed by Gravik at the conclusion of the episode, then it's an unbelievable waste. A waste of a character, a waste of a fantastic performer in Emilia Clarke, and a waste of the audience's time.

When Gravik found out that G'iah was the spy, he shot her and she turned back into her green Skrull form as dead Skrulls have done all series. Yes, she could have faked it, but after seeing how Talos reacted to Gravik even just saying her name, it feels that this could have been done to be a catalyst for him to really go after the villain.

It's a sacrifice that's not worth the pay-off if this is the case. G'iah could have brought so much more to the series, just as Maria Hill could have. That's now two out of three episodes that have killed strong female characters, and you have to hope that Olivia Colman isn't next.
