Secret Invasion Episode 3 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Up - Gravik's Potential Weakness

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Secret Invasion so far, as is kind of the entire point. You don't know who to trust or what to believe, but there is one thing that you can be at least almost certain of. Gravik will lose.

Generally, you can assume that an MCU villain will ultimately fail. Zemo won in Civil War, and Thanos defeated the Avengers in Infinity War, but Gravik is certain to lose to Nick Fury. The Skrull is not about infiltrate and destroy the human race and make Earth his New Skrullos.

So, how is he going to lose? He seems to be in a very strong position right now, he has a wide reach and incredible resources, and doesn't ever seem to be phased by anything. Except for in one scene.

The usually unflappable Gravik was visibly agitated when speaking with Talos, so could this be a window into his weakness? For whatever reason, whether he fears his predecessor as General, holds a respect for him, or knows what he could be capable of if pushed, Gravik was very different around Ben Mendelsohn's character. Could this be when he makes a costly mistake that leads to his eventual downfall?
