Secret Invasion Episode 4 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

5. Up - An Emotional Rollercoaster

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

After seemingly following in the Secret Invasion footsteps of Everett Ross' Skrull impersonator and Maria Hill, it turns out that G'iah survived. MCU fans went from that sigh of relief at the start of the episode to instead mourning for her father at the end.

In the heat of the battle at the conclusion of the episode, Talos was shot by one of Gravik's men. He was then attacked by Gravik himself, who very matter of factly stabbed his predecessor as Skrull General through the heart. This immediately felt like a much more real death than that of G'iah.

There's no way that Talos has secretly given himself any special powers from earlier in the MCU, and there's also no way that Gravik would have had any mercy from that distance.

Secret Invasion has played everyone, forcing them to see G'iah killed only for the relief of her survival to be quickly outweighed by the death of Talos. This was an emotional rollercoaster, and one that is sure to follow on through episode five.
