Secret Invasion Episode 4 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Up - An Insurmountable Villain

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

From the very beginning, Gravik has proven himself to be a worthy MCU villain. It seems with each passing week he has grown stronger, more intimidating, or more threatening. Again, this was no different in episode four as he potentially killed the President of the United States.

G'iah said it herself. Gravik has a plan, he is implementing it, and it is working. With Extremis, as well as Groot's power making him almost untouchable, it is getting harder and harder to see how the good guys will win out. G'iah may be the key, but betting on her is far from a certainty.

G'iah has a handful of incredibly powerful politicians under his thumb, he has the ruthlessness and the boldness to go after the President, and he has the intelligence to formulate a simple plan that will actually work. Gravik has it all as a villain, and when Fury showed up on the scene it was like he flipped into another level of angry. Anything the series' main character tries is only bound to make Gravik madder.

A story is only as good as its villain, and fortunately Secret Invasion has a good one.
