Secret Invasion Episode 4 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. Up - Leading Into More MCU Projects

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

As far as most MCU projects go, Secret Invasion has felt relatively stand-alone. Sure, it deals with a lot of themes and threads from the franchise's past, but in the present the focus is almost solely on Nick Fury and his fight against the Skulls' attempted takeover of Earth.

However, that doesn't mean it won't lead to further MCU projects. Captain America: Brave New World for example is set to feature Harrison Ford's Thaddeus Ross as the President of the United States. Secret Invasion has just potentially made room in the Oval Office for such a man, but that's not all. What about the guy by the President's side?

Rhodey technically hasn't appeared in Secret Invasion. Instead, his form has been stolen by a Skrull. With Everett Ross, fans have no idea when or even if they will be seeing the character again, but they do know that Rhodey will star at the centre of Armor Wars in the not too distant future.

Surely this will be the real Rhodey rather than a Skrull, but there is no way he can return to the franchise without referencing the fact that he has been replaced for however long. He could even potentially be dealing with the fallout of someone else having his access to the President, his authority in the US government, and in all likelihood, his War Machine suits.
