Secret Invasion Episode 6 Review - 5 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Up - A Reason For Not Calling The Avengers

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

Secret Invasion presented a situation that was clearly an Avengers-level threat, but it never brought the Avengers themselves into the fight. This was a frustrating element to try and put aside - particularly so, given the reason Fury gave at the end of episode five for keeping Earth's Mightiest Heroes away was poor.

However, everything made sense with the reveal of Nick Fury's plan. When the former Director of SHIELD said that no one could defend the world like he could, what he actually meant was that he had a resource that no one else had, and a plan that no one else could pull off.

The resource was G'iah, and the plan was to make her just as super a Skrull as Gravik. It was a risky, arguably stupid plan as said previously, but the bottom line is that it worked, and taking any narrative reasoning out of the equation, Secret Invasion would have always been better without bringing the Avengers in.

Instead, the series gave the MCU a new hero in the form of G'iah, with the DNA of every hero and villain that spilled blood at the Battle of Earth, including Captain Marvel and even Thanos. If this was Fury's plan all along, then it's no wonder he didn't call Captain America like Gravik wanted and had likely planned for.
