Seinfeld: 10 Worst Things George Costanza Has Ever Done

4. Faking A Handicap

Seinfeld George
NBC

In one of George’s more gleeful acts of delinquency, he finds out just how fantastic life would be for him if only he was handicapped. After the events of the previous season’s finale, George is using a cane to get around. “The Butter Shave” sees George offered a job where, believing him to be permanently disabled, the staff treat him like a prince who can do no wrong.

In a glorious montage, we see George living it up at his new company. He uses a stairlift to get to his floor. Everyone greets him with a smile and a wave, and he has carte blanche to play tricks on his colleagues, who let him get away with murder.

The episode throws in a brief scene in which Jerry expresses shock at his friend’s latest scheme, but other than this, we see nothing but George living his best life. He even takes things up a couple of notches, switching from a cane to a motorised scooter.

George finds himself busted by the end of the episode, as his new boss will not accept an explanation of divine inspiration when he finds the perfectly mobile Costanza lifting his scooter to flee a group of disgruntled old folk, but it was fun while it lasted.
