Sex Education Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

Ups...

7. The Fantastic Ensemble Cast

Sex Education Season 2
Netflix

Even when the show is at its soapy worst, the one aspect that never falters is unquestionably the remarkable ensemble cast.

It helps immeasurably that the casting is absolutely spot-on across the ensemble, and there's not a single weak link to be found throughout.

It goes without saying that Asa Butterfield is once again terrific as the hilariously awkward Otis, and is enticingly asked to go to some more unpleasant places this season.

Gillian Anderson is of course ludicrously entertaining as Otis' sex therapist mother Jean, and gets far more of an opportunity to reveal her character's vulnerabilities this time around.

Emma Mackey's Maeve and Connor Swindells' Adam just might be the MVPs, though, each charged with working through by far the most tortured and troubled major characters in the series.

Even the smallest role is played just right, though, ensuring Sex Education continues to be far more of an actors' show than just about anyone could've ever expected.
