Sex Education Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

4. Erin & Viv Are Fantastic New Additions

Though several of the new cast members unfortunately suffer from feeling like thin sketches, there are two fantastic additions who slink effortlessly into the wider ensemble.

Firstly, Anne Marie Duff is brilliant as Maeve's skittish drug addict mother Erin. Her interactions with her daughter are painful and at times frustrating, and Duff perfectly sells Erin's desperate attempts to dig herself out of the all-consuming hole of addiction.

The real surprise this season, however, might be Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu), an extremely intelligent student who ends up tutoring Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling) and quickly becomes one of the most likeable characters of the entire cast.

Given how easily Viv could've just been shoved into the middle of the pack, she's given a surprising amount of screen time across the season, and Ezeudu makes the absolute most of it.
