Sex Education Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

3. It's Full Of Important Messages

Season one received a lot of justified praise for its array of sex-positive messages and its generally inclusive tone - reflected by its diverse cast - and season two smartly doubles down on both the earnestness and diversity.

In addition to the broader message about people embracing their sexuality in whatever form it comes, there are also attempts to explore the more fringe likes of asexuality, and an attempt, if a clumsy one, to remind audiences of the prevalence of sexual assault among young women.

Beyond sex, though, the show continues to fly the flag for self-love and self-assurance, of opening yourself up to people while also not allowing yourself to be abused or taken advantage of.

These messages are all great ones of course, especially for many younger viewers who might be watching. A show this frank about sex carries with it a certain responsibility, and it's clearly one that the writers take completely seriously.
