She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode One Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs
6. Up - The Fourth Wall Break
One of the most intriguing aspects going into She-Hulk has been the fact that the titular character will break the fourth wall, something that has never really been done in the MCU before. Most people assumed it would be Deadpool to introduce this particular aspect, but Jen Walters has beaten him to it.
The trailers had already shown her do it once, with both Bruce and herself seemingly taken aback by it, but she also broke it in her human form to give a little context and exposition to her origin story.
This could have gone one of two ways. It could have been a fun and quirky addition to the show, or it could have missed the mark completely. Thankfully, it was absolutely fun and quirky, and Tatiana Maslany pulled it off with expertise and wonderful comedic timing.
Certain aspects of the source material don’t always translate to the screen particularly well, but the fourth wall break introduced to the character by John Byrne in the Sensational She-Hulk appears to be on its way to helping make a sensational She-Hulk series.
