She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Seven Review - 6 Ups & 2 Downs

6. Up - The Not So Subtle Troll-Bashing

There are a lot of themes running through She-Hulk, and a lot of messages that relate to the wider world. Some of these are a reaction to the upsetting culture of some online trolls, not only aimed at She-Hulk, but any female-led project, and on a wider scale women themselves. There have been several times in the show, mainly revolving around the viral fame of She-Hulk, where toxic masculinity has run riot.

Depressingly, the comments used in the show were actually taken from real people making real comments. Similarly, the Intelligencia website was made up of the same kind of comments that were a clear jab at those same trolls. She-Hulk has been review bombed online, in a similar way to Ms. Marvel, simply because it is a show written by, ran by, and starring women.

The subtle digs are one thing, but in episode seven Jen didn’t even try to mask what the writers of the show were saying. When Nikki asked her if she was down an Intelligencia rabbit hole, she simply replied that she doesn’t care what a bunch of losers write about her online.

Though it’s always easier said than done, what a fantastic message to the very small portion of so-called ‘fans’ making such comments and giving such reviews.
