8. Mycroft And Sherlock Aren't Really Related

It's a strange relationship for a pair of siblings to have; you can't tell if they despise each other, or actually admire one another. But what if the Holmes brothers aren't actually brothers at all? The evidence is staring us right in the face: Mark Gatiss looks absolutely nothing like Benedict Cumberbatch. On top of that, it's been established that Mrs Holmes is the cleverer one in their parents' relationship, and it would explain why they harbour such disdain for one another; if they remembered their mother's betrayal every time they looked the other one in the eyes, it would definitely answer a few questions. It's obviously not true though, and even if it was, it would never be addressed in the show. Part of the beauty of this relationship is that they're so different, yet two sides of the same coin: it might be hinted at that they're not actually related, but it would take the fun out to explicitly declare it.
