Sherlock: 10 Crazy Twists That Would Turn The Show Upside Down

7. Moriarty Knew Magnussen

Janine might well be related to Jim Moriarty (though she's probably not). But there are still some arrows that can be connected between the consultant criminal and the newspaper nutter. Magnussen knew about Redbeard. The only other people to know about Sherlock's childhood dog would be Sherlock himself, Mycroft and their parents. Oh, and Jim, who Mycroft told everything to when he was locked up. Moriarty went straight to a newspaper journalist when he wanted to bring Sherlock down; and whose newspaper would he most likely have used? It's wholly possible that even if they weren't strictly associates, Charles Augustus Magnussen was a member of Moriarty's network, feeding him information about Holmes. Whilst these links might never actually be addressed, it's certainly plausible. It would again, suggest much more that Moriarty was never actually gone if the new baddie was always actually the old baddie, but it's unlikely Moffat and co will mention the tabloid tycoon again, other than reference his death.
