4. The Falls

Teased throughout the episode, the climax of the Victorian element of the story took place at the fabled Reichenbach Falls, where Holmes and Moriarty had their final tangle before plummeting into the depths. Here, however, mega fanboys Moffat and Gatiss couldn't resist rewriting the tale and giving it a happy ending. Whereas Doyle had Watson sent away from the action, just as Holmes and Moriarty are fighting to the death the good doctor returns to protect his friend and send the evil professor comically tumbling into the water. It's hard to argue that this scene had any proper bearing on the plot, so watching it will either put a big beam on the face of hardcore fans or leave others scratching their heads.
