Sherlock: Each Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Molly Hooper

Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock
BBC

Seeing the loveable and utterly charming Molly Hooper at the lower end of this article is a disappointing sight. However, it isn't a reflection of poor quality in acting or character building, but rather a display of how intense the competition between these roles is.

Hooper is brought to life by the very talented Louise Brealey, who takes this morgue specialist from St. Bartholomew's Hospital and turns her into one of the most likeable characters in the show. Molly stands apart from the other roles as she seems to be the most honest and innocent, with her awkward shyness combined with an evident crush on Sherlock making her utterly endearing.

The character is given some decent agency in the narrative - particularly in The Abominable Bride - but in a similar vein to Lestrade, she often feels like an assistant to Sherlock's whims and not a fully autonomous part of the series.

Although she is entirely adorable and a fantastic worker, she doesn't fit into the mystery-solving as well as others.
