4. Tom Hiddleston Will Play Sherlock's Other BrotherBBC
This one has been rolling around for a while now. Back in 2014's His Last Vow, Mycroft made a reference to a third Holmes brother that he simply called "the other one." Immediately, fans 'cast' Holmes Boy No. 3 as Tom Hiddleston, a known friend of Mark Gatiss and Benedict Cumberbatch.
A dream of fandom was all it stayed until this year's San Diego Comic-Con arrived and the Sherlock team revealed three hints about the new season. The juiciest was 'Sherrinford' - the name of the third Holmes brother in the wider Sherlock Holmes lore.
At the same event, Gatiss tweeted a photo of himself and Amanda Abbington with Hiddleston, sporting the caption "blud", a British slang term for brother.
So is Gatiss simply trolling his fans here, or is this an actual hint that the Thor actor has joined the show? On the one hand, it seems a bit far-fetched that Sherlock would be able to cast a mega-star like Tom Hiddleston without it leaking out.
But after having Hiddleston as the character in their heads for so long, would the fans accept someone else as Sherrinford? Will he even appear at all? So many questions.
