9. Baby Watson Is Coming
You may recall that Mary Watson was heavily pregnant at the end of Series Three... and in Christmas special The Abominable Bride. In Series Four, after three years, Mary will finally have her baby girl (which, despite his efforts, will not be named after Sherlock). The series' synopsis reads:
[Series 4] begins with the nation’s favourite detective, the mercurial Sherlock Holmes, back once more on British soil, as Doctor Watson and his wife Mary prepare for their biggest ever challenge – becoming parents for the first time.
Previously, it had been theorised that tragedy would strike the Watsons before their baby is born. However, that doesn't seem to have turned out to be the case. So how will the baby affect the shape of the show? Will having a daughter neutralise John's lust for danger? If so, at least Sherlock has a new crime-fighting partner lined up...
