Episode: A Scandal In Belgravia Directed At: Irene Adler It's a long-standing shoolyard trait that the immature will insult the one they are attracted to in order to mask feelings of affection, and although Sherlock delivers this line with some genuine conviction (implying he has something of a moral objection to Adler's line of work), one can't help feeling he's hiding something beneath his insults. Adler, as Sherlock's intellectual match, laughs off the slights time and again, but that doesn't hinder his efforts. The jury is well and truly out on how romantically interested the famously asexual man is in 'The Woman', though it's still nothing short of adorable to watch the two of them spar and attempt to outdo one another throughout the episode. Like a ballet with words in place of moves, it's a deftly-written, feature-length two-hander in which both parties fare brilliantly, and it's nice to see Sherlock get a taste of his own medicine for once.
