The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Deaths (So Far)

6. Beatrice Simmons

Beatrice Simmons was Grandpa Simpson's one-time girlfriend after the two met at Springfield Retirement Castle's help desk and accidentally swapped their medications, falling in love at first sight. The two arrange a first date but Grandpa is whisked away at the last minute by Homer to go on one of the Simpson's once-a-month discount safaris, and when he returns, discovers Beatrice had died. He is informed by Jasper that her left ventricle burst; she had literally died of a broken heart. Unable to forgive Homer and blaming him for his girlfriend's death, Grandpa discovers Beatrice bequeathed him a large sum of money. Unsure what to do with it, he encounters Beatrice's ghost, who tells him to give it to those who can use it. Grandpa then touchingly uses the money to help renovate the retirement home, making it a beautiful place to live for the long-suffering residents and lovingly creating the 'Beatrice Simmons Memorial Dining Hall'.
