The clip show is an antiquated art form, and you rarely see them around these days, but back in the day, The Simpsons were asked to trot them out occasionally. They did their best to make them unique and enjoyable, even though the bulk of the episodes were old, recycled material from past episodes. One such instance is All Singing, All Dancing, a clip show dedicated to the best musical moments in the shows history. Even during the new material, a lot of this episode is spent with the characters singing, much to the disdain of Snake, who threatens to kill the Simpson family if they dont stop singing. Before all this, however, Homer makes a return from the video store with a copy of Paint Your Wagon. Homer and Bart expect a bloody shoot em up, but instead find themselves subjected to a musical starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin. Thats a funny idea as is, and then you find out that Paint Your Wagon is a real musical starring Eastwood and Martin. Eastwood sings! The version in The Simpsons isnt all too similar to the real one, as they sing about actually painting an actual wagon, with oil based paint, naturally, because the wood is pine.
