Radioactive Man, as a character, serves as the main comic book character in the world of The Simpsons. He has popped up in many episodes for a variety of reasons, but the specific episode Radioactive Man happens to be about the creation of a Radioactive Man film, which lends itself to a lot of jokes about filmmaking, and also allows a couple of old school references as well. Both Little Rascals and Mickey Rooney get name checked, with the latter being brought in to try and convince Milhouse to continue on his movie career. For you see, Milhouse has snapped up the role of Fallout Boy in the Radioactive Man movie, because the movie is shooting in Springfield, a city that didnt even need proper spelling in its ad. Milhouse finds himself getting chewed up by the Hollywood system, as he realizes being a movie star isnt necessarily great. Rainier Wolfcastle, the Arnold Schwarzenegger of The Simpsons, stars as Radioactive Man. There are homages to the old Batman of the Adam West era and plenty of jokes poking fun at spurious Hollywood spending. The episode is full of funny jokes about showbiz, dripping with irony that even outsiders can understand.
