This overall episode isnt a movie spoof, but since it focuses on Troy McClure, there is plenty of stuff about movies in there, as McClure is the foremost washed out celebrity in Springfield. We first see McClure starring in The Muppets Go Medieval, where we find out that McClure is not, in fact, a leather muppet. However, this episode features one of the funnier, sillier movie parodies in the shows history. After McClure begins his courtship of Selma, Marges sister, his career takes off, and it begins with his role in the new stage musical, Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off! As there have been a million sequels and prequels to Planet of the Apes, its surprising that a musical version has not happened yet, even if it is a supremely silly idea. They stick a few funny songs into a short span of time, but the best one is certainly Dr. Zaius, which involves breakdancing and a parody of Falcos Amadeus. It's immensely daft.
