The Simpsons: 10 Throwaway Lines That Would Have Made Great Episodes

7. The Origin Of The Name Legs

In "Mayored to the Mob" Homer enjoys a brief but memorable stint as Mayor Quimby's personal bodyguard. During his duties Homer accompanies the Mayor to Fat Tony's clubhouse where Quimby accepts a bribe in exchange for looking the other way while Fat Tony supplies the schools with rats' milk. While this exchange is taking place, Homer is chatting with Fat Tony's lieutenants Legs and Louie. He asks Legs how he got his name and Legs assures Homer that it is a very interesting story. He starts off "It seems President Kennedy's father..." but is interrupted when Homer sees a leftover dessert and decides that it deserves his attention more. For the rest of us however, we are burning to know just how interesting this story is and what it could possibly have to do with Joseph P. Kennedy. Such is the density of The Simpsons that even a supporting character to a supporting character can have an intriguing story to tell.
