The Simpsons: 12 Guest Stars Who Surprisingly Parodied Themselves
3. Alan Moore
Episode: Husbands and Knives When The Android's Dungeon suddenly finds itself in competition with the more comprehensive (and more customer friendly) Coolsville Comics & Toys, there can only be one winner. And especially as the new store can really bag the big names, with Art Spiegelman, Daniel Clowes and Alan Moore all in attendance for a book signing. Moore, a man who isn't known for hiding his animosity towards Hollywood adaptations of his works, plays upon his grouchy image perfectly. As the following scene progresses, you can practically see the bile bubbling behind that bushy, foreboding beard:
Milhouse: Mr Moore, will you sign my DVD of 'Watchmen Babies'? Which of the babies is your favourite? Moore (fuming): You see what those bloody corporations do? They take your ideas and they suck them. Suck them like leeches until they've gotten every last drop of the marrow from your bone.
At which point, Spiegelman tells Moore to chill out and hands him a Little Lulu comic. As he returns to his chair, Moore sings the theme song to calm himself down.
Yorkshireman (hence the surname). Often spotted sacrificing sleep and sanity for the annual Leeds International Film Festival. For a sample of (fairly) recent film reviews, please visit whatsnottoblog.wordpress.com.
