The Simpsons: 20 Greatest Couch Gags

1. The Hobbit

Released late last month, here, we see the Simpsons meet Middle Earth, as they wander the worlds depicted in JRR Tolkien's majestic masterpiece dressed as characters from the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. Homer is the dwarf, Bart, Lisa and Maggie the hobbits and Marge none other than Gandalf the Grey, as the family venture out into the world on a perilous and arduous journey. Their mission? Not to reach the Lonely Mountain to steal Smaug's gold, or to end up at Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, but to reach that fabled, brown couch. Along the way they meet many familiar characters, such as Gollum, played by Moe, Smaug, as Mr Burns, and even the trolls who turned to stone - Homer's drinking buddies Lenny, Carl and Barny. In the end, after all their travelling, Homer selfishly collapses on the sofa, telling his family to "get their own couch". What are your favourite couch gags from the Simpsons?
