The Simpsons: Edna Krabappel’s 10 Greatest Moments

4. Edna Leads A Teachers Strike €“ The PTA Disbands

The Simpsons The Pta Disbands One of Edna's many bust-ups with Skinner led to a teachers strike in 'The PTA Disbands.' A row over teaching supplies is something Bart attempts to exploit to the maximum, and a game of Chinese whispers leads to an embattled Edna declaring €“
"We'll show him! Particularly for that 'purple monkey dishwasher' remark!"
Probably one of her most quoted lines, the war between the union and the governing bodies brings out a side to Edna that cannot be ignored and is vital to the show. For all her casual cynicism in front of the children, she can be deeply protective of them if she thinks they are being sold down the river. At few other points has she been such a strong force for good in the Springfield community, and with so many corrupt institutions both in fantasy and reality, I think the writers send out an admittedly mangled and ragged message to the viewers . That message? Quality Education Is A Good Thing. A special mention must also go to possibly the most persuasive 'come onnnnn' I think any of us could have heard, when a meeting of the PTA is gathered in the school hall. However, none of it was able to stop one particular irate parent from jumping through the window...and back again.
