Some Longterm Fans Of Star Trek Are Nervous About Alex Kurtzman - Why, And Is It Fair?

This responder gave the below statement:

Perspective is everything, to limit what is - or is not Trek, is not very Starfleet. The hyperbolic nature of cancel culture on the sheer notion that one doesn’t like it, speaks of ego, not preservation of an idea. Ideas were meant to be challenged and adapt to the changing times

To be Starfleet - this is something that most fans will have heard at some point in their fandom journey. Starfleet is supposed to exist to seek out new life and new civilisations, and to boldy go where no one has gone before.

Does this not sound exactly like what the franchise is currently doing? Seek out NEW life and go where no one has gone before?

There will always be the question of personal taste, and that is more than fair. There are moments across all of the incarnations that don't sit well with some, which is fine.

Alex Kurtzman is here to stay, for the time being at least. Thanks to that, there are new shows, new worlds and new ideas to explore.

Isn't that what Starfleet stands for?
