Sons Of Anarchy: 10 Compelling Questions That Were Never Answered

7. What Happened To Unser's Cancer?

Chief Wayne Unser was one of the more compelling members of Sons Of Anarchy's cast that managed to survive right until the end. He was the head cop in Charming, he let SAMCRO do just about anything they wanted as long as he was in the loop, but he was also the catalyst for some of the strongest, most abiding conflicts in the show.

Not least among them was the ticking time-bomb of his cancer, which he was diagnosed with before the show started and inspired his decision to begin handing over control of the Charming Police Department, meaning the MC wouldn't get as much of a free pass in the town. He later retired from law enforcement entirely. But was that to do with cancer?

It seems that diagnosis barely ever came up again. Every so often Unser was seen smoking marijuana to ease his pain, or taking cancer medication, but in the end he met his fate at the hands of Jax when he tried to arrest him at the end of season seven. At that point, his apparently-serious illness hadn't been mentioned for ages. What happened?
