3. Gemma Teller
Gemma Teller was many different things to many different people. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch, murderer, liar, and gatekeeper of every secret. She was arguably one of the most important parts of the Motorcycle Club, and she wasn't even a member.
Her defining quality was the love and loyalty she held for her family. She would do anything for her son, and did unspeakable things for the good of the club. However, she was also undeniably selfish.
She put her grandkids in danger by driving them while high, she forced the club to take her to Belfast while escaping bail, and she pinned Tara's murder on Lin and his gang, something that led to the deaths of West, Collete, and Bobby. All this without a thought for the consequences or troubles it would cause others, only for her own self-preservation.
Her pride and the love for her family was ultimately her downfall. She genuinely believed she had more right to her grandkids than their mother, and she killed Tara because of it. These two very different sides to Gemma essentially made her a walking contradiction, and one of the most complicated and complex characters the show had to offer.
