At this point, Half-Sack may be best remembered for the bizarre death of actor Johnny Lewis several years after his departure from the show. Strip that away, though, and Half-Sack is a relic from when the show was far less outwardly grim and depressing as it has become, with Lewis being the first member of the primary cast to have been written off the series. In an attempt to protect Abel Teller from the distraught Irishman Cameron Hayes, Half-Sack is stabbed inside Jax's home, dying in front of Tara. While never having received too big a focus in the series, Half-Sack had still managed to provide a dose of lightheartedness throughout the first two seasons that rendered his heroic death quite tragic, as it ultimately allowed Cameron to get away with Abel and provided the season with an unbelievable cliffhanger that set the tone and stage for the radically different third season.
