8. The Goth Kids

South Park is a place that's full of colour, brightness and goofy characters. But sometimes, it can be nice to strip that shininess away and take a walk on the dark side. The introduction of The Goth Kids did that, as it lovingly poked fun at goth culture while still bringing some exposure to it.

This non-conformist group arrived in season 7's "Raisins" and hit it off with fans right away. Their over-the-top downer personas and hilarious designs were instantly memorable, and it wasn't long before the characters started to make frequent appearances. Their central roles in episodes like "The Ungroundable" and the "Coon & Friends" trilogy are particularly good highlights.

Seeing children acting this dark and sorrowful is hilarious, as rather than painting them like tortured souls, the characters come across as self-absorbed and childish. Still, you get to learn plenty about the four of them, even getting a glimpse into their lives at home, and it's a hilarious ride.

They may not have been there from the beginning, but they are just as iconic as the "posers" who were.
