South Park: 10 Most Disturbing Episodes
8. Stanley's Cup - Season 10, Episode 14
On the surface, Stanley's Cup appears to be an affectionate parody of underdog sports movies. The kind of which South Park's creators likely grew up with, and have strong memories attached to.
But of course, leave it to Matt and Trey to take a wholesome set of sporting films, and pervert them into one of the show's most upsetting and deeply unpleasant half hours. After having his bike towed, Stan is forced into coaching a pee-wee hockey team in order to get it back, and upon learning that one of its players Nelson is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer, Stan vows to lead the team to victory.
It all sounds very wholesome, but soon turns sour when Stan's team ends up playing against a professional hockey team who brutally beat the children into submission before securing victory. The failure of the team then leads to Nelson giving up hope and he succumbs to his illness. All the while the opposing team celebrate on the blood-soaked ice as 'We are the Champions' rings out all around them.
It's an incredibly shocking ending and one that will forever live in infamy amongst fans of the show.
