The Game of Thrones theme tune is beloved by fans of the show. Look on YouTube and you'll find countless covers and interpretations of it, some which must be seen to be believed. While the majority of these rely on breathtaking musical skill, South Park opted to rely solely on schlong jokes. Having established George R.R. Martin as a penis enthusiast, a choir is brought in to sing the Game of Thrones theme about wieners. While Scott Malkinson slips into a diabetic coma, the group sing about male genitals with such a severe, deadpan delivery you can't help but laugh. Some may see this as too juvenile to warrant acclaim but I have to say I found it very funny, and it's precisely because of its immaturity that it struck a chord with me. South Park has been overly focused on crafting smarter jokes around narratives in recent times and it's refreshing to see them going back to basics. The fact that they changed the credits sequence in the final episode to incorporate the song was just icing on the cake really. Butters' reaction as this was happening certainly helped, his mounting frustration mirroring those that frequently complain about Martin's notoriously slow book output.
