4. Ben Stiller
Strange choice, I'll admit. But allow me to review my reasoning on this one: Ben Stiller is an admitted Trekkie (or Trekker, depending on how you prefer it). He named his production company Red Hour Productions after an episode of the Original Series. He knows very well what attracts people to Star Trek, being such a big fan himself. Also, he's an experienced writer and director, so while I wouldn't trust him to single-handedly pen the movie or show he would play Captain in, he could at least contribute to the script, and see to it that it reflects his passion for the show and features all the things that he knows makes Star Trek a special programme amongst its many imitators. In addition, it always attracts more attention to a role when the actor is cast against type (i.e. Tom Hanks in Philadelphia). And seeing as Ben Stiller is so ingrained in the comedy movie scene, it would be interesting to watch him in a more dramatic role.
