Star Trek: 5 Biggest Examples Of Klingons Being Dishonourable

5. Khitomer

Famous for being the planet on which the Khitomer Accords, the Klingon-Federation peace treaty, was signed, Khitomer is also well known for the amount of dishonour which has befallen it. This all began when the Accords were first being negotiated, by Chancellor Gorkon himself. Unbeknownst to him however, several Starfleet officers, a Romulan Ambassador, and his own chief of staff General Chang all conspired against the whole venture. This resulted in his unfortunate assassination, for which Captain Kirk and Doctor McCoy were charged. Whilst the killing of a superior isn't unknown in Klingon ranks, these are traditionally hand to hand, or at the very least face to face challenges. The use of subterfuge and hiding in the shadows, quite literally in a ship that can fire whilst cloaked, is about as polar opposite to this as it is possible to be. No wonder this prototype Bird Of Prey was never reproduced Fast forward fifty years, and an attempted conspiracy is out-dishonoured by a full scale massacre when at least 4,000 were murdered in a surprise Romulan attack. Whilst Romulans can can consistently be untrustworthy, the attack was only made possible thanks to Klingon colonist Ja'rod supplying them with the access codes they needed to breach Khitomer's defences. He might have been killed along with the rest of the innocent civilians, but was surely first in line on the barge to Gre'thor, the Klingon Underworld.
