Star Trek: 5 Biggest Examples Of Klingons Being Dishonourable

4. A Change Of Heart

Throughout his long Star Trek tenure Worf has defended The Federation, the Klingon Empire, not to mention countless other communities and planets, countless times, all in the name of duty. And honour. This is not to say his record is spotless however, as there is one particular event which leaves a rather blemishing mark. It is often said that you shouldn't mix work and relationships, and this is never more true than when on a covert intelligence mission to rescue Lasaran, a Cardassian informant. Tasked with that mission was the husband and wife team of Worf and Jadzia Dax. As with any dangerous mission into Dominion territory, they eventually come under fire from the Jem'Hadar, and Dax is gravely wounded. Given the choice of saving his wife who requires immediate help, or completing the mission, Worf chooses to rescue Dax and leave Lasaran (and his information regarding all the changelings throughout the alpha quadrant) to a grizzly fate. That is to say nothing of the estimated millions of others who could have been saved had Worf followed not only his code of honour as a Klingon warrior, but also his orders as a Starfleet officer. In fact the secrecy of the mission was the only thing that saved him from a court martial. Somewhat lucky, considering disobeying such orders from the Empire would have resulted in a swift, but not too clean, execution. If only he'd known that Jadzia would die half a season later anyway, this all could have been averted.
