Star Trek: 10 Biggest Historical Events That Never Happened

1. Bell Riots

Past Tense Part 1 Gabriel Bell

The Bell Riots were a series of incredibly violent protests that took place between the 1st and 3rd of September, 2024. Named for Gabriel Bell, they spawned a period of economic and socio-political change in the United States, as it was finally forced to deal with its homeless and mental health crises.

Though the Bell Riots did not occur in 2024, the root cause of them - the economic instability in the United States, and indeed the world - is very much in place. Several proposals for real-world Sanctuary Districts have been introduced through the years, while the financial divide on Earth is just ludicrous.

Speaking to the TrekCulture Podcast, writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe believes that when he wrote the script, 2024 seemed much farther away and therefore the world would have the time to slip, before bouncing back. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, there still seems to be some time for the issues to percolate before any large-scale revolutions break out.
