Star Trek: 10 Biggest Historical Events That Never Happened

2. The Eugenics Wars

The Eugenics Wars are among the most infamous conflicts in Star Trek's history. Recent entries into canon have suggested that the human race is not as free of them as they'd hoped, but for now, the original timeline - 1992 - 1996 - seems to have passed us by.

Humanity began a process of selective breeding and genetic engineering, designed to improve the human being, thus allowing them to adapt to a shifting world. This quickly led to the rise of so-called 'supermen' bent on controlling those they deemed 'inferior.'

Khan Noonian Singh remains the most well-known product of the time. In canon, he was effectively an emperor over much of Asia before he was chased off-world. The Eugenics Wars stemmed from his, along with those of others like him, attempts to reshape the world in their image. They left much of the planet ruined, paving the path for World War III.

Strange New Worlds has introduced a new timeline variation that shifts Khan's birth into the 21st Century. With that said, these Wars may still be ahead of us.
