Star Trek: 10 Crazy Facts About Klingons

8. They're Not Huge Fans Of Doctors

Speaking of doctors, it's not really a career path for many Klingons. They have mostly the same professions on Kronos, like merchants and lawyers. Doctors don't seem to be as necessary to them, though.

Unlike the Federation, Klingons don't spend a lot of time patching their warriors up when in combat. A glorious death on the battlefield is the dream of every Klingon warrior. If one of them falls on the battlefield, they are allowed to die and are celebrated for their lives. Funeral rights are a celebration of life meant to warn the dead a Klingon warrior is coming.

For many in the Empire, being patched up by a doctor is akin to preventing their transition to becoming one of the honored dead. It kind of makes you wonder what they do when they have a non life threatening injury or an accident. Hopefully, they're willing to go to see a doctor when they trip and fall on their own bat'leth. There's no honor in dying from an epic fail.
