Star Trek: 10 Hated Episodes You Grew To Love

9. Threshold

This is an episode that has become a true favourite here on TrekCulture, while also serving as a rags-to-riches tale for Star Trek in general. Threshold was a mixed bag of ideas that ultimately fell apart in the third act, but meant well on arrival.

You know the story by now - man goes fast, man's tongue falls out, man and woman become lizards, hilarity ensues.

It has slipped into a new category of Star Trek episodes - it's become something of a mascot, parading as a genuine episode, wrapped up in a bunch of lizard jokes. Star Trek: Lower Decks has managed to get in on the joke, featuring the Paris-Janeway offspring (robotic form) in the episode Twovix, as well as the monstrous and terrifying Anthony, on his way to the farm!

Threshold is a bonkers outing, offering some great opportunities for Robert Duncan McNeill to stretch his acting muscles, and slithers its way into the hearts of many fans.
