Star Trek: 10 MORE Characters Permanently Displaced In Time
9. Discovery Crew
The arrival of the USS Discovery in the 32nd Century saw an entire crew of Starfleet officers suddenly ripped from the lives that they knew. This entry is one that deserves a bit of a deep dive, as the previous list focused on Burnham and Georgiou.
The close of the show's second season saw the volunteers jumping to the defense of Burnham, against the hive mind of Control. However, while Burnham was fated to go into the future, and certainly these volunteers opted to go with her, circumstances were such that there wasn't much time to get off Discovery, had they chosen to remain.
Keyla Detmer becomes the defacto focus character for this. Though she is seen volunteering in Such Sweet Sorrow, she is depicted as having not truly appreciated the weight of her jump through time. Quickly in the third season, she is shown truly struggling with the massive weight of the future - especially this particular future, one without a Starfleet that would be familiar to her.
This then extends to Culber, who, on top of his duties as Chief Medical Officer, assumes the role of ship's counselor. While he is able to provide support for Detmer, he quickly finds himself in need of support.
With only one season left to go, at the time of writing, it remains to be seen if the audience will see any more of the crew's struggles to adapt, though it is unlikely at this stage.
