Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Q

1. He Was The First Character To Say "Trek" In The Show

While Doctor Zefram Cochrane is the only character in the franchise to have actively name dropped the series by saying the phrase "Star Trek", he's not the only person to have given a head nod to the show's name within an episode.

Indeed, John De Lancie was the first to say part of the franchise title, as Q would make the first reference to it - by saying the word "trek" - in The Next Generation episode "All Good Things...".

While it might seem weird at first to give this gift to a character who isn't in the franchise all that often, it has to be remembered that this fits Q's character perfectly. Star Trek isn't a show that breaks the fourth wall, per say, but it definitely does toy with it, and the omnipotent trickster god is definitely the figure you most see doing so.

Though he didn't get to say the full name, there's something wonderful about the fact that, even if we never see him again in anything Star Trek, Q will still have a mark in its history by being the first to get to reference the show he was in.
