Star Trek: 11 Things You Didn’t Know About The Kzinti

9. There Is At Least One Kzinti In Starfleet

Continuing the tradition of Kzinti appearing in animation, a Kzinti named Ensign Taylor has appeared as a minor character in six episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks. Unlike previous depictions of the species in The Animated Series, has gone out of his way to walk upright instead of hunched forward and maintain human-like posture when standing to look more commanding.

Taylor was a member of the Redshirts, a club of command division ensigns onboard the U.S.S Cerritos who helped each other earn promotions. He pointed out Brad Boimler's poor poster and helped him correct it.

As confirmed by Lower Decks’ stars Tawny Newton and Jack Quaid, season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will feature a crossover with Lower Decks with Tawny Newton and Jack Quaid appearing as live action versions of their characters Mariner and Boimler. This crossover may open the door for a live action appearance of a Kzinti at some point but probably not considering their track record.
