Star Trek: 12 Characters That Deserve Their Own Series

2. The Borg Queen & The Origin Of The Borg

Star Trek Borg Queen

One of the greatest adversaries the Federation have ever faced, the Borg, are extremely interesting in terms of the who, what, and where they come from. Having explored this enemy in exquisite detail across three series and a film (two films if you want to get really technical); what remains are still a lot of questions.

STO has opened a lot of new doors in terms of the Borg and their storylines. However, one of the greatest aspects of the Borg is simply that we encountered one of their ships during the events of the original motion picture, with V'ger. V'ger was literally encased in Borg technology and even used Plasma based energy weapons. Spock saw the Borg homeworld in his vision, when he tried to mind-meld with V'ger, and he mentioned that the aliens that helped the probe felt V'ger was kindred, and wanted to assist it on its mission of obtaining knowledge.

A prequel series showcasing the earliest aspects of the Borg-becoming-Borg when they were yet organic and "flawed" as the Queen described during Star Trek First Contact, would be extremely interesting. a prequel like this would provide direct connection to the original motion picture. Giving that entry in the Trek films more purpose and meaning, as a lot of the original fandom debates (heatedly) over how good, or bad, that film truly was.

Alice Krige may still be able to continue in the role as queen, certainly she'd be interesting to see become the earliest incarnation of the queen we are familiar with. To begin with, I predict this would be a topic of much controversy.

I'm a writer, a published author, and editor for a small independent publishing house. I'm an award winning producer of independent media, and I get to edit books, screenplays, and comics in my day to day. I love working on independent film & games, during my down time, as well as reviewing films while gobbling down milk duds (it's an addiction, I know). I've been called "Geek-Prime" among my peers for all the fandoms I work in, and I wear that title proudly. It's a passion, and an exercise in my growing profession, to get to write about what I love. Which happens to be a little of everything. But mostly film, comics, horror, games, anime, literature, and life. I do write about academic material, like politics, medicine, physics, and mathematics too. But for the most part, I like to keep things down to earth and simple. Follow me on Twitter & Facebook
