Star Trek: 5 Best & Worst Guest Star Appearances

4. Titus B. Welliver

burke When the starship Voyager encountered a long lost ally, a Federation ship from way back home, they thought they'd found some friends to help them on their long journey home. Not only were they betrayed by selfish impatient traitors to the Prime Directive, but they had to put up with the monotonous ramblings of Lieutenant Maxwell Burke, played by Titus B. Welliver. Listening to this guy was like watching a spider try desperately to crawl out of the bath. You think there's a breakthrough coming but it just doesn't happen. He'd be presented with an opportunity to deliver a plot twist or a game-changing line, and you'd find yourself thinking "this could be interesting"! Then comes the bitter disappointment as he transforms a killer line into a robotic response that makes Data look human. At no point in the two part episode "Equinox", linking seasons 5 & 6, does Titus deliver the kind of performance that aspiring actors dream of delivering. He's like an accountant in a Starfleet uniform, which was the only real drag in an otherwise powerful storyline in which Kate Mulgrew in particular shines as Captain Janeway, who takes the betrayal of the Equinox crew, the Captain in particular, as a personal attack on her most valued beliefs as a Starfleet Officer. Take note Titus!

My life is simple. I write songs, sing in a band, act from time to time and I watch A LOT of movies and television shows. My preferred genres are Sci-Fi and Comedy. I decided to write for WhatCulture because my girlfriend (yes, I'm a sci-fi nerd and I have a girlfriend!) is sick of me ranting about films every time we leave a cinema. I do hope people enjoy reading my reviews, although I'm sure there will be many different opinions about every film I review. I respect everyone's right to their opinions so please feel free to comment and debate anything I write. Thanks for reading!
