Let's take some time here at number 6 to empathise with the sentient humanoid androids in the Trekkersphere. Data and The Doctor simply cannot have children. Having the children of fellow officers running around is just rubbing metaphorical salt into the motherboard. I am yet to see an advance in technology to facilitate a Data Micro, Mini or Nano. Star Fleet are even sadistic enough to enable them to feel emotion so that they can be more human, deepening my skepticism. Maybe if the creators had considered this, one could have been built. Or perhaps a Holochild could be engineered. Parents of teenagers may argue they all are anyway.
